What Does Showing Up in Your Own Life Mean to You?

Live Your Best Life By Showing Up for Yourself First

When you ask yourself if you’re showing up for your own life, it should bring to mind so many different things you do, big or small. It’s an open-ended question that hopefully inspires you to be fully present and allows you to realize all the ways you show up—whether it’s as simple as getting dressed in the morning, letting a friend do you a favor, or making yourself a meal. It could be as nuanced as feeling good about solving a complex problem by yourself, bouncing back from a perceived failure, or learning how to forgive others.

As you navigate each day, notice how you are leaning in, as subtle as it may be at times. Here are some more ideas to get you thinking about what it means to show up in your own life.

It Means Being Compassionate to Yourself

Even when times are tough, or when you’re feeling down, or if you don’t think you deserve it, you do, in fact, deserve to be kind to yourself. It means gently accepting there’s no such thing as perfection. If you didn’t get to the store today, there’s always tomorrow. If you were in a bad mood in the morning but snapped out of it by the afternoon, pat yourself on the back. If you made a mistake at work, try to learn from it and move past it.

It Means Trusting Yourself

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in whether we can trust others. We get so caught up in pointing out all the reasons we can’t trust them that we forget that we need to trust ourselves first above anyone else. It doesn’t matter if you trust a boyfriend or girlfriend, as long as you trust yourself to make the right decisions. You have the power here. Trust yourself because you are the only one you can control.

It Means Unleashing Your Greatest Potential

Yep, you are in charge as the narrator, so what do you need to do in order to get to where you want to be or go? Maybe you already know but tend to be hesitant or overly cautious about decisions. If that’s the case, seek out guidance from someone like a lifestyle coach who can help you see things differently or more clearly. No one said you had to do this life alone. There are plenty of great resources available for those of us looking for answers.

It Means Listening to Your Soul

You already have everything you need right inside you. Your soul is the access point to all the joy and passion that’s already in you. If you need help with bridging this gap, find a personal growth platform online to help you understand what it truly means to honor your truth, access your internal wisdom, and bring you closer to living a more fulfilling life. Your soul never gets it wrong, and that’s an incredibly comforting thing to know.
