The Aftermath Of Ego

Ego looks like your best friend,
"Yeah, do it this way, no one will ever know. No one will figure it out or notice."
"Do what isn't right to get to what is right" is Ego's favorite thought attack.

What the Ego is baiting your soul with is that you cannot do this on your own the best way, so it wants you to settle for your least strength rather than your greatest strength.
Then it wants to take you on the ride of not being able to look people in the eyes, of lying, of cheating, of hurting others to find out that whatever you got in the process for it ultimately means nothing to you.
The aftermath of Ego is Regret.
Regretting that you will never know the best outcome because that would have been too good for Ego.
The truth is that Ego never won. EVER. Not yet anyway.

Ego is the robber without a gun.
It gives you permission to hurt yourself and when you take Ego up on it, it runs away like a thief in the night.
We have the capacity to override Ego, to veto its urgings.
We have the awareness to know when something is not right.

Even if you get less for what you are doing with a clean heart, at the very least what is less is yours and you built a foundation of great questions and learning.
With Ego, we are left with nothing.
We get the kind of lessons through Ego that bring to us funny stories later on, about how we listened to it thinking it was going to save us.

Awareness is the enemy of Ego. So I write this to be aware.
We are bigger and better than the voice of Ego and it is a great day to live in that knowing.

God Bless,
Nadia Khalil
